April 22nd, 2013

Hola!
Wow.. this week has been amazing. I've definitely learned a lot and have had to rely on my Heavenly Father more than ever before. I'm so grateful for it though..
We had the opportunity to go to one of our investigator's softball games this week. She's 9 years old and her name is Larissa. As soon as we got there I was reminded of all those years I played softball. The little girls were doing cheers and they all had ribbons in their hair. The game started and within the first few innings I started getting antsy and wanted to go coach the girls! I realized how competitive I am when I was wanting to help out a 9 year old with her hitting. Haha I wanted to go teach her how to throw correctly and all those things.. But the best part about the game, was Larissa's face when she saw us. They lost the game but she ran up to us after and said "when are you coming to teach me again?! I want to be baptized already!" The fact that she had just lost the game didn't even cross her mind. She has such a desire to follow Christ. It was a good chastisement for me as well.. Being the best on the team, or hitting a home run doesn't matter. It's the fact that Heavenly Father has given us the way to return Home to him and it's only through His Son Jesus Christ that we can do that.
This week at District Meeting, we talked about how Christ is always there for us and why it is so important for us to share the Gospel. We read in Moroni 7:45-46. But we replaced the word "Charity" with Christ, and changed it to past tense.. so it reads:
"And Christ suffered long, and was kind, and envied not, and was not puffed up, sought not his own, was not easily provoked, thought no evil, and rejoiced not in iniquity but rejoiced in the truth, bore all things, believed all things, hoped all things, endured all things" and then in 46: "Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not Christ, ye are nothing, for Christ never faileth. Wherefore cleave unto Christ which is the greatest of all"
I love that. I love it because it's true. Charity is the pure love of Christ. What better way to replace the word Charity, than with His own name. These two verses have helped me through every day since. I know that Christ is my Savior and the rock of our foundation. No one can tell me that this Gospel isn't true. I know it for myself. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for each one of us. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. If you don't know that, go read it. Pray, and ask our Heavenly Father. Read these verses and you will feel of His love and the truthfulness of these words.
We have met so many little kids and young girls that want this Gospel with all of their hearts. It's amazing. I now see why Christ loved those little children. They were so willing to follow Him and listen to His words. We have 2 little girls, that are sisters, getting baptized this weekend and i'm so excited for them. They want this SO badly. I love to see the light in their eyes. Their parents are both members but have been less active. The family has completely changed and now every time we go to their house the Spirit is so strong.
I love missionary work. It's amazing how the Lord works. Christ is the head of this Church and it is through Him that we can find peace, happiness and eternal life. I'm so thankful for my family. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to have grown up in a home with family home evenings, family scripture study and prayer, and that I can live with all you crazy hooligans for eternity. I love you all. Thanks for all your support. Be safe!
Love,
Hermana Egbert

p.s. if any of you know any good hymns of different arrangements/artists feel free to send them to me :) we can only listen to hymns and i wouldn't mind having more to listen to.  i love you all!
