April 15th, 2013

Sorry! I know mom, you're probably worried.. We normally e-mail around 10 am but today we went shopping with our investigator's mom :) her name is Hermana Montejano. She took us downtown. You can see Mexico across the street. All the shops say they accept pesos ha i love it! She has two beautiful daughters (one was in the picture i sent last week). Her daughters are getting baptized on the 27th! We are SO excited. Hermana and Hermano Montejano are both members but stopped going to church 10 years ago. They come to church every week now. They love having us in their home and we love being there. They are the sweetest family. And Hermana Montejano is an incredible cook.. :) Things are going well in Eagle Pass! It's HOT. Lots of tan lines and lots of mosquito bites. But i'm getting used to it. Mom I got my package today! Thanks! I'm glad I have pepperspray now. I've been carrying a stick around to scare the dogs away. So since we ate so much last week, Hermana Ferguson and I decided to go on a "cleanse" and drink lemon water for breakfast and lunch to kickstart our healthy eating.. It wasn't half bad.. Except we had dinner at a members home that night and had super greasy enchiladas. We woke up the next morning to exercise and decided to go to the church so we could run ladders. We lasted fifteen minutes then ran home and locked ourselves in the bathroom. That was the end of our "cleanse." Haha We're eating better now dont worry.
I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY. I feel like I can't tell you all half of what happens because I'd be writing all day! We have met amazing people. For some reason my companions and I keep finding people to teach, they let us in, we teach the first few lessons, then by the 3rd lesson we find out they're in a gang. Three of our investigators are in gangs. But I know that the Lord loves them and will help them through anything. Even if it means leaving their gang. We had an incredible lesson with an investigator named Pablo. (also in a gang) He told us he wants to be baptized and wants this Gospel in his life! Then he rambled on in Spanish for awhile and we had no idea what he was saying. He talked about how he used to smuggle money for "some guy" in Mexico. We ended the lesson with prayer and as we were walking away, the member that came with us told us that the "guy" he was talking about is one of the most wanted men in the world right now.. He's got nothing on three sister missionaries though! :) My companions and I are working hard. I've never felt so close to my Savior. I love this work so much. I pray for you all each and every day. I've never been so thankful for my family. Seeing the situations that the people are in here down in Eagle Pass, really makes me thankful for everything. Even the little things. Thank you so much for you support and love. Sorry if my e-mails don't make sense, I can't speak English very well anymore. Haha never thought the day would come that Spanish made more sense than english..
I know my Savior lives. I know that we can all be instruments in His hands if we will humble ourselves and open our mouths. He will put words into our mouths if we simply have the courage enough to share His message. I love you all! Have a great week!

Hermana Egbert

The river that separates mexico and the US. I was really sad the huge Mexican flag wasn't up the day we went to take the pictures of the border, but i'll get one. It's a really neat thing to see!
