Familia...
We had a fantastic week. So many things happened..
Carlos and Jose were baptized on Saturday! The service was incredible. Both Erika and Clara shared their testimonies. Erika bore powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was amazing to see her using her scriptures.. testifying to everyone. She was baptized only 2 months ago! She is amazing. She received her temple recommend yesterday and was so excited! We are going with her to do baptisms in the San Antonio temple this week. I can't wait!
Saturday night we visited a less active family. They have a lot going on in their family right now but we stopped by and decided to share a message with them. The two youngest kids, who are 12 and 11, drug their feet and complained about wanting to go back to bed, and watch tv. We started talking to them and began to read the Book of Mormon. We talked about Nephi and how Christ appeared to the people in the Americas after his resurrection. The 12 year old boy asked "how do you know that?" I responded, "It's in the Book of Mormon." He grabbed his Book of Mormon, opened it up, and said, "What page?" We turned to Alma 40 and read about the resurrection. Both of the kids were on the edge of their seats. We talked about the Holy Ghost and how we can recognize the Spirit. They asked if it was okay to ask God questions.. so we taught them about Joseph Smith's story.. They both said they were going to pray and ask Heavenly Father if He loves them.
I wish I could describe that miracle that Hermana Lund and I witnessed first hand. These two kids lit up as we talked about the Gospel. They love it and have such pure desires! It breaks my heart to see these kids have questions that can so easily be answered in the home. I will teach my children the gospel. Not only by reading the scriptures, but by living it. It is vital that we live the Gospel. We must be converted. My best friend e-mailed me this week and said something that i love, "I believe the more the Lord can trust you, the more you are relied on." I know it to be true. Let us teach the rising generation the way to live the gospel. Let us be examples. The Lord needs us. He trusts us. Are we going to let him down? I know I won't.
I am so excited for the Women's Conference this weekend! It is an amazing opportunity to be able to gather all the women of the church. I pray that we will all be edified and seek the counsel that we are given.
I know that God loves us. I know that Christ lives. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true church on the earth today. The Priesthood power has been restored in it's fullness through our beloved Prophet, Joseph Smith. I love this gospel. I know that we will live together forever so long as we keep the commandments and honor our covenants that we have made. I love you and am so thankful for each one of you! Have a fantastic week!!
