February 24th, 2014

Familia,
This week.. wow. It was a rough few days saying goodbye to Hermana King. We became best friends in the 2 transfers we had together. Thursday, we went to transfer meeting, and I received my new companion.. Hermana Lund!! She and I were in Mission Prep together at BYU. We were 2 of the 4 girls in all the class. We had talked a few times before the mission, but now we are so excited to be serving together! She's from Ogden and is friends with some of our cousins. She runs marathons so we've been running every morning. It's been really fun :)
I love this ward! We are continuing to see success. We have some incredible investigators right now and many of which are close to baptism. Giselle will be baptized this weekend so we are looking forward to that. We are teaching a seventh-day adventist who asks the greatest questions. I find it ironic that we always teach him on Saturdays..  He always has his Book of Mormon open and is ready as soon as we get there.
We had dinner with an Hermana in the ward this week. She served a mission 20 years ago. I have had a pair of shoes in the car with me ever since I left Riverside. A member there gave them to me, but they were too small. I've been trying to find someone who needs them. As we finished eating dinner, i noticed her shoes.. they were worn out. I asked her what size she was. I hurried and ran out to the car, and handed her the shoes. They fit her perfectly! She started to cry and said "Hermana, asi trabajan los diezmos.."  (This is how tithing works) I could tell that she was in need of these shoes. It strengthened my testimony, to see her faithfully pay, even when she wasn't sure how she could support her family. The Lord knows us and is so aware of us.
President Slaughter came out with a new mission study plan.. For 4 weeks we will study: Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, the Father and the Son, and the Kingdom of God. We study one topic for a week, then move on. We just finished studying about Joseph Smith. I know more now, than ever before, and can testify with all my heart, that Joseph Smith was chosen to be the head of this final dispensation. He restored Jesus Christ's true church, and perfect doctrine back to the earth. I am forever grateful for the Prophet Joseph Smith and his life. Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah.. Jesus anointed that Prophet and Seer.
Yesterday as we were pulling out of the parking lot, one of the young women who is preparing to serve a mission stopped me and said, "hermana egbert.. i have to tell you something. there's just something about you. i can feel it.. when i'm around other missionaries i dont always know that they're missionaries until i see their name tags.. but when i'm around you, i feel something. i know you're a missionary." I was completely humbled by her comment. I am thankful for the opportunity I have to wear my Savior's name every day. I love this work! I love being a missionary! I say that every week, but I mean it!
Have a great week and go share the gospel with somebody :) I love y'all!

Con amor,
